On Christmas Eve, three years after her birth, her mother died of tuberculosis. She was then appointed Congregational Treasurer of the order, a position she held from 1964 to 1983. Her keen mind could question and analyze any situation. Three years later cancer prevented her from performing all of her duties there but she continued on as an assistant to the new parish administrator. She was quite an artist; doing beautiful rosemaling and also oil paintings and water colors which can be found around the Villa. She often talked about her wonderful five years in Guam, where she would say she learned more from her high school students than she probably taught them. She ministered in schools in La Crosse, Plum City, Allouez and Stratford, Wisconsin; in Carroll, Calmar and Hiawatha, Iowa; in Bozeman, Montana; in Spokane, Washington and in David, Kentucky.
